Joinery

Whilst carpentry and joinery are ordinarily named together both in job description as well as qualifications, the practical aspects of carpentry vary a reasonable amount the tasks performed by a joiner. Site carpenters might sometimes be referred to as joiners, though this phrasing inaccurately describes the works that are carried out. Whilst many of the tools, materials, and skills are shared between these two distinct trades, the works produced vary quite a bit. The scope of site carpentry is larger and more rough, with huge beams and timbers assembled to form stable structures, though skill is still required. On the other hand, a well trained joiner in a suitably equipped workshop is capable of producing clean and precise construction components such as windows and staircases.
