First Fix Carpentry
Most carpentry tasks carried out to construct residential UK homes are split into two primary categories in relation to the plastering stage. First fix carpentry encompasses all of the tasks that are carried out sequentially within a property, up until the plastering can begin. The term “first fix carpentry” might also include all of the structural carcassing tasks that we’ve already looked at, as these too are carried out before the plastering stage. Once the superstructure of the building has been assembled, and the roof structure has been weathered in, the primary first fix tasks can take place inside in the dry. These tasks will include the installation of the subfloor sheathing, the formation of internal timber partitions, the installation of the stairs, and other tasks that are necessary in preparation for the tacking and plastering stage.
