After the plastering has taken place and is suitably dry, the finished carpentry components are ready to be installed. This portion of the schedule is known as the second fix stage. In the US, this collection of tasks is known as “finish carpentry”. At this point, the doors can be swung, any decorative mouldings can be installed, the staircase can be finished, and larger components such as kitchens and fitted wardrobes are also installed. During this stage, the electricians and plumbers will also carry out their second fix, for example wiring up sockets and plumbing in sinks respectively. Once this stage is completed, the property is ready for decoration, as well as other trades such as the floor layers.
